New York Home Eyes Region's Luxury Shelter

Hour Media LLC in May launches New York Home, a luxury shelter title dedicated entirely to New York-area design.

The quarterly publication will have a cover price of $4.99 and a circulation rate base of 100,000. It will be positioned as the go-to magazine for New York-style home design.

Editorial will include columns like “Suburban Chic” and “Behind the Gates” to give readers an inside look at the most elite gated communities in the New York metro area. Another column, “Split Personality,” will feature one family at its city dwelling as well as its country or beach weekend hideout.

Among the product columns will be “Product Portfolio,” “Showroom Stars” and “It's Electric,” which examines the latest home electronics. Other mainstays will include sections on gardening, floral design and book reviews, plus a “Movers and Shakers” column on New York celebrities.

New York Home will cover apartments, lofts, houses as well as summer and weekend homes in affluent neighborhoods in New York, including Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Jason Kontos is editor-in-chief. He is a veteran of House Beautiful, Country Living, Classic American Home and Veranda. Other staffers include Peter Webster, features editor; Carol Helms, contributing style editor; and Betsy Marx, contributing design editor.

Suzanne Tron is the publisher. She previously was publisher of Architectural, Architectural Lighting and I.D.

The magazine will target advertisers from categories like luxury products, decor, design, architecture, entertaining and real estate. Bloom and Krup, Yves Delorme and Carlyle Custom are charter advertisers.
