New UPS International Option Eases Customs Clearance

United Parcel Service Inc. introduced UPS World Ease yesterday, a shipping option designed to offer lower international rates and faster service in 61 countries.

The service, which works through the UPS small package network, features consolidated customs clearance, allowing customers to ship multiple packages to many destinations in the same country as one consolidated shipment. Goods move directly through customs as a single unit, reducing the need for warehousing, inventory and shipping.

Customers use UPS OnLine WorldShip software to consolidate shipments. Once the shipment clears customs, it's separated into smaller shipments for final delivery.

For packages to the European Union, individual shipments destined for multiple countries are grouped into one shipment for customs clearance and cleared through a single port of entry.
