New DM News Video Tackles Telemarketing Concerns

DM News has announced the Oct. 1 release of “Telemarketing in Turmoil,” a videotaped interview and panel discussion on the provisions and implications of the national do-not-call registry and other pressing concerns of direct marketers and the broader marketing and business community.

The 45-minute discussion, moderated by DM News editor in chief Tad Clarke, will be available in DVD, CD or VHS formats for $49. This is the second in DM News’ series of roundtable discussions. The first, “E-Mail Marketing Under the Gun,” was released in August.

The Oct. 1 release date for “Telemarketing in Turmoil” is also the day that the Federal Trade Commission’s no-call registry takes effect. With more than 48 million out of an anticipated 60 million Americans already signed up for the list, Clarke said this subject is vital for telemarketers in all industries.

Panelists who will discuss the provisions and implications of the registry for marketers include Mitch Roth, an attorney and general counsel of the American Teleservices Association; Dennis McGarry, CEO of telemarketing firm Personal Legal Plans Inc.; and Ellen Ryan, executive vice president and managing director of integrated services at Wunderman.

“Our expert panel is extraordinarily qualified to help business sort out compliance issues and how marketing and fundraising practices are being altered by leading practitioners to account for the do-not-call registry,” Clarke said. “They also will address a number of other important issues in telemarketing including commercial faxing, predictive dialing and the loss of jobs in the U.S. to offshore call centers.”

“Telemarketing in Turmoil” may be ordered directly from DM News by contacting Charlton Cham at 212/925-7300, ext. 238, by fax at 212/925-8797 or by e-mail at [email protected]
