NetCreations' PostMasterDirect division yesterday announced a partnership with ICOM's TargetSource to provide a new e-mail service called Append and Send.
The firms claim that the Append and Send model is the only way to append while still protecting consumers' privacy.
Through the service, a marketer's customer file is matched to the 15 million households on the TargetSource Consumer Responder Database. The names are also matched to the PostMasterDirect double opt-in e-mail file of more than 40 million names.
Then, PostMasterDirect maintains the addresses and delivers the e-mails on behalf of the marketer. The e-mail address is never transferred to the marketer.
“Permission is not transferable,” Michael Mayor, NetCreations president, said in a statement. “This is, without exception, the only responsible method of appending e-mail addresses to a postal file.”
