Neopost Inc., Hayward, CA, announced yesterday the formation and incorporation of Neopost Online Inc. (www.neopostonline.com), a wholly owned subsidiary created to develop global Internet-based shipping and mailing solutions for the small office/home office (SOHO) and consumer markets.
Currently, Neopost has a family of E-postage products for the SOHO market: Simply Postage, PC Stamp and PostagePlus. Last year, Simply Postage, an e-postage product that uses its own hardware, software, an Internet browser, and a printing device to allow customers to print postage off the Internet, has been available since last year. It’s additional products, PC Stamp and PostagePlus are currently being beta-tested in several major metro areas through a program sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service ‘s Information-Based Indicia program, and are expected to be available commercially later this year.
Two other companies have met the USPS’ IBIP criteria for commercial availability: E-Stamp Corp., San Mateo, CA, and Stamps.com, Santa Monica, CA.
Simply Postage was developed by Neopost’s New Technology Group, formed in 1998, which has been spun-off as Neopost Online. The new subsidiary assumes the management responsibilities of Simply Postage, in addition to the development of new technologies.
Neopost Online is led by CEO David Crisp, formally founder and manager of Eden Group Ltd., which later merged with Geoworks Inc. Neil Mahlstedt, President of Neopost Inc. North America, presides as Chairman of Neopost Onlines board. JP Leon, the innovator and developer of Simply Postage, is chief technology officer.
Neopost Online will be relocated to Redwood Shores, CA. from the corporate offices in Hayward, CA.
