Software solutions provider NeoPlanet announced a technology agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. in which the firms will deliver PC technology designed to personalize customers' computing and Internet experiences.
The first tool is the Compaq Advisor, which began shipping on Compaq Presario desktop and notebook PCs last month. The Compaq Advisor, which is built on NeoPlanet's new technology called the Viassary suite, communicates timely and targeted messages based on individual customer needs.
Messages are delivered online and offline, notifying the user of changes within the computer environment, recommending actions and informing them of offers on products and services to achieve the best performance from the computer.
Components of the Viassary suite include a smart rules engine that activates the intelligent delivery of communications and applications; a graphic engine that allows for custom-designed interfaces, branding and functionality; and product updates in the background.
