Neo@Ogilvy buys Global Strategies for search help

Neo@Ogilvy, The Ogilvy Group’s interactive marketing agency, has bought Global Strategies International to strengthen its expertise in natural search results.

The consultancy’s purchase bolsters New York-based Neo@Ogilvy’s paid and organic search offerings and helps with branding as well as response-oriented marketing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Combined, Neo@Ogilvy and Global Strategies will have 24 offices in 21 countries. The acquired firm, which has offices in Connecticut and Oregon, brings IBM as a client.

The Ogilvy Group is part of British advertising agency conglomerate WPP Group PLC.

Global Strategies was founded in 2004. Search marketing expert Bill Hunt, author of “Search Engine Marketing Inc.: Driving Search Traffic to Your Company’s Web Site,” and his partners, Jeremy Sanchez and Andy Weatherwax, ran the search marketing, brand reputation management and training specialist.

Mr. Hunt was recently named to the board of directors of Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization. He and Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Weatherwax will run Global Strategies as a unit within Neo@Ogilvy.
