Neiman Marcus Reports November Sales, 1Q Results

The Neiman Marcus Group, Dallas, reported yesterday that revenue for the four weeks ended Nov. 27 totaled $308 million, a 5 percent gain from the same period last year. Same-store sales grew 6.6 percent in the period.

Neiman Marcus Direct experienced a 16.5 percent increase in comparable revenue for the month. Top-selling merchandise in the direct segment included women's apparel, handbags, shoes, accessories and linens.

The multichannel marketer also reported its fiscal first-quarter results yesterday. For the 13 weeks ended Oct. 30, Neiman Marcus' revenue totaled $908 million compared with $819 million in the year-ago period. Same-store sales increased 10.6 percent in first-quarter fiscal 2005. Excluding Chef's Catalog, which was sold during the period, Neiman Marcus Direct saw a 13.1 percent increase in volume for a total of $126 million in sales.
