John Needham, senior vice president of public affairs at Time Inc., is leaving the New York magazine publisher after 25 years to start his own event management and strategic marketing firm.
While at Time Inc., Needham was founder/president of Fortune's conference division and also held positions in advertising sales and consumer marketing.
Dawn Bridges succeeds Needham Oct. 18 as senior vice president of corporate communications. She was, until February, executive vice president of corporate communications at Warner Music Group, which was sold by Time Inc. parent Time Warner Inc.
Bridges has more than 20 years of experience in entertainment industry media relations, crisis communications, mergers and acquisitions, public policy, investor relations, special events, consumer publicity, community affairs and internal communications. Her resume includes stints at record labels PolyGram and EMI.
At Time Inc., Bridges will work with Peter Costiglio, vice president of corporate communications, and Ali Zenko, communications director. She also will work with the various divisions in the Time Inc. magazine family.
“Given the culture of music companies and the way they operate, Dawn is accustomed to dealing with well-known, independent brands,” Ann Moore, Time Inc. chief, said in a statement.
In other news, Meredith Corp. promoted Pamela Daniels to associate publisher of Traditional Home. Daniels previously was advertising director for the 950,000-circulation, eight-times-a-year title. Daniels joined Meredith in 2000 after stints as national advertising manager for Conde Nast Traveler, beauty director for Seventeen and advertising director on Art & Antiques.
