ORLANDO, FL — Banking, credit card and insurance organizations are the worst purveyors of unsolicited direct mail, according to a study by PrimeResponse, Cambridge, MA, a customer relationship management company.
The results were announced yesterday at the 26th National Center for Database Marketing Conference and Exhibition.
The initial findings of the study, called “Junk Mail Offenders in the New Economy,” come from a four-part global research study that gathered feedback from 1,000 adults in Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
In the United States, respondents cited credit card companies as the worst offenders, pushing 64 percent of all unwanted direct mail. Similar results were reported in the United Kingdom, where credit card companies were said to be responsible for more than 50 percent of all unwanted consumer solicitations. In France, Germany, Netherlands and Australia, banks, building societies and credit card companies were highlighted as the worst offenders.
