**NCDM: Convergence Is Creating Global Interactive Marketplace, Speaker Says

ORLANDO, FL — Convergence “is rapidly expanding the amount of direct access to consumers and buyers,” Llewellyn Wall, an Internet technology forecaster, told the audience at the National Center for Database Marketing show.

Wall, chief technology officer at Decis e-Direct Inc., said all major media are coming together to create an interactive, individually targeted marketing environment on a global scale that has never before been possible.

He used several examples to illustrate how convergence is taking place, including the marketing capabilities of wireless devices and the prospect of digital and customized radio. He also said people would soon have the option of having their Web addresses printed alongside their phone numbers in the phone book.

Wall told the audience that while many people could not agree on a definition of convergence, he defined it as “the interactive and non-interactive consumer and business access points being bridged by the Internet.”

He also told the audience that at its core, the new power of interactive technology creates a cornerstone for a revolutionary marketing environment.
