Viacom Inc.-owned MTV Networks’ mtvU 24-hour college network signed a definitive agreement to buy Y2M: Youth Media & Marketing Networks, an online college newspaper publisher.
Youth Media & Marketing is the parent of College Publisher, which has 2 million registered subscribers through 450 online campus papers. Content offered includes news, sports, weather and event listings.
The acquisition will follow several New York-based MTV Networks recent buys, including Xfire, Gametrailers, Ifilm and Neopets. The goal is to have a presence across every screen preferred by today’s consumers.
Y2M will expose mtvU, which is also available on broadband on www.mtvu.com, to more than 120 advertisers.
