Video mail-order retailer Movies Unlimited Inc. reported a revenue increase of 23.64 percent during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30.
The Philadelphia company, which produces an 816-page catalog containing “virtually every video movie available in the marketplace,” also reported a 79 percent increase in orders placed through its Web site, MoviesUnlimited.com.
“While DVD is a growing part of our business, it is currently only 11 percent of our sales,” company president Jerry Frebowitz said. “Consumers are still buying and collecting VHS tapes in record numbers, and our figures bear that out.”
The company also said that despite “the recent events negatively affecting the economy,” the company is projecting a record fourth quarter of 2001.
