Monster.com, a site that lists job postings, is expected by the end of the month to announce semifinalists in an agency review for its $75 million to $90 million U.S. advertising account.
Mullen has been agency of record for two years for Monster.com, Maynard, MA, a career brand owned by TMP Worldwide Inc. The account comprises a large chunk of Monster.com's $135 million worldwide marketing budget for 2000.
Calls to Monster.com and to Pile and Co., Boston, a firm that is managing the ad review, were not returned at press time.
In a statement, Monster.com CEO Jeff Taylor said the brand “has experienced tremendous growth over the past two years, and the challenges associated with establishing this brand — and continuing our push in the U.S. market — are compounded by our aggressive global growth strategies.”
Monster.com claims it has been profitable in the past 10 quarters. It has local sites in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Singapore, Germany, France, Ireland, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States, and it plans to be in 20 countries by year's end.
