Monadnock Releases Green Guide

Monadnock Paper Mills Inc., Bennington, NH, has released an eco-friendly resource guide for graphic arts professionals called A Field Guide: Eco-friendly, Efficient and Effective Print.

The guide presents alternatives for design decisions that support sustainability without sacrificing style. It covers choosing a paper source, including paper types; contents and chemical labeling; sizing to reduce paper waste; inks, finishing techniques and coatings; binding; printing processes; and the use of environmental logos.

While many designers have embraced sustainable design, Monadnock saw a need for a resource to help graphic designers sort through the mass of information about sustainability to identify and verify environmentally friendly materials and practices.

The guide is an exercise in sustainability itself and looks to show that eco-friendly design can be cost-efficient, environmentally sensitive and beautiful. It is printed on Monadnock’s Astrolite PC100, a 100 percent uncoated post-consumer fiber, process chlorine free, archival-quality paper.

The guide is available as a downloadable PDF from Monadnock’s Web site, www.mpm.com. Printed copies may be obtained via the site or through many local distributors and printers.
