M&M/Mars and the American Red Cross have teamed up to raise money for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
With a new campaign called “Taking Care of America Every Day,” the two expect to raise more than $3 million for general disaster relief.
All profits from the 5 million specially produced bags of red, white and blue plain and peanut M&Ms displaying the Red Cross logo and the U.S. flag will go to the fund.
The 21.3-ounce packages of patriotic M&Ms are available at retail locations including Wal-Mart, Safeway, Albertson's, Duane Reade, Pathmark, Price Chopper, ShopRite, Winn Dixie and Stop & Shop as well as at U.S. military commissaries.
The Red Cross' general disaster relief fund is at an all-time low following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks because none of the $550 million donated to the Liberty Fund could be used for other disasters.
