Miva’s InLine Offers Hyperlink Ads

Online advertising network Miva has launched InLine, letting online publishers build revenue without increasing page impressions or sacrificing Web site real estate for advertising.

InLine crawls publishers’ sites, and hyperlinks are added to keywords within the content of certain pages. Ads appear only if they are user-initiated. Users must mouse over the hyperlinks, and a pay-per-click ad appears that is relevant to the hyperlinked keyword.

“Miva InLine provides an incremental revenue stream for online publishers, as many of them are struggling to keep up with the demand for available site inventory in the current online advertising boom,” said Seb Bishop, president and chief marketing officer of Miva, New York.

In addition to pay-per-click ads, the floating box displays editorial links directing users to related pages of the publisher’s site. This feature is initially available only to Miva’s larger publishing partners, is powered by Miva’s proprietary contextual technology and is designed to enhance online user experience.

Filters were implemented in the new product to prevent keywords from being tagged in sensitive or inappropriate articles. Miva has assigned a team of editorial experts to monitor and update these filters.

Miva’s InLine will be available in the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. For more information, visit www.miva.com/inline.

“A major benefit of the new product is its ability to drive increased revenue without any need for publishers to increase page impressions,” Mr. Bishop said.
