MIVA Signs Ad Agreement After Executive Shakeup

MIVA's new executive team is expected to sign a global ad distribution agreement today with Data Depth, Issaquah, WA.

The arrangement with Data Depth's iCopyright technology allows MIVA's pay-per-click and pay-per-call ads (from Ingenio) to be embedded in online content, downloaded or e-mailed by publishers' readers. The deal fits in with the company's stated goal of growing publisher revenue.

Last week, Craig Pisaris-Henderson, founder, chairman and CEO of MIVA, Ft. Myers, FL, and Phillip Thune, president, resigned from the company.

Peter A. Corrao, COO, will succeed Pisaris-Henderson as CEO, and Seb Bishop, chief marketing officer, will retain his CMO post and take over as the company's new president.

Bishop told DMNews that he and Corrao plan to continue growing the business and develop ways to generate additional revenue for online publishers.

To that end, MIVA's publishers can now obtain a percentage of the revenues generated from ads placed next to articles that readers forward or downloaded.

“Publishers don't [usually] generate any money from articles being sent from one person to another. This has relevant ads down the side,” Bishop said.
