Miller Freeman Moves CMP Media Lists to Rubin Response

Publisher and trade-show sponsor Miller Freeman Inc. has transferred management of its CMP Media group of mailing and telemarketing lists — primarily subscribers lists to Miller Freeman’s hi-tech magazines — to Rubin Response Management Services Inc., Schaumburg, IL, effective Oct. 1.

The lists previously had been managed by Database Marketing Concepts, Bohemia, NY, which acquired the group last year from Worldata, Boca Raton, FL. The move consolidates Miller Freeman’s lists with Rubin Response.

“We’ve proven ourselves with Miller Freeman,” said Judy Rubin, a spokeswoman for Rubin Response, which has managed Miller Freeman’s lists for 13 years.

Peter Candito, president of DMC, who managed the lists when they were handled inhouse at Miller Freeman, said DMC grew the business 40 percent in the past year, and that gross billings from the lists were on pace to top $15 million this year.

The group includes 14 publication lists, including InformationWeek, Computer Reseller News, Computer Retailer News, VARBusiness, Electronic Engineering News, Network Computing, Internet Week and Windows magazine.

Candito said he had packaged more than 40 vertical market databases from those lists, and also re-launched the CMP International lists management business with 10 publication lists and the CMP Media International Database.

“The CMP titles present a great opportunity for our companies to expand further into the ever-growing tech market,” said Bill Rubin, president of Rubin Response, in a prepared statement.
