Microsoft Showcases Web Services at RadioShack

RadioShack Corp. is incorporating Microsoft Internet Centers into its stores after the electronics chain signed a co-marketing agreement with Microsoft Corp.

Microsoft's basic and broadband Internet services will be featured in 5,800 RadioShack outlets. Half of them are connected to the Web via digital subscriber line or two-way satellite, while the remaining stores will be hooked up by year's end.

Store customers will be allowed to try Microsoft's technology and order its services. Under the deal, RadioShack's sales representatives will guide customers through what MSN offers as an Internet service provider.

RadioShack, New York, said the alliance will strengthen its brand as an Internet-related store. Microsoft, Seattle, looks to add to its subscriber base of 3 million with the in-store presence.

Terms of the agreement were not announced.
