Microsoft Reader Software Available for PCs

Microsoft's Reader software program, a technology designed to make reading on a computer screen easier on the eyes, will now be available for personal computers, the company said yesterday. The program was available only on Microsoft's Pocket PCs, which were released in March.

The software’s availability comes on the heels of a pending e-book deal between Microsoft and Barnes & Noble.com. Barnes & Noble.com will begin selling 2,000 tiles in the Microsoft Reader format, with another 150 titles added every week.

Microsoft is negotiating with other companies to take part in the software launch.
