Merkle Teams With Direct Group for Expanded Mail Services

Database marketing agency Merkle said yesterday that it partnered with Direct Group, a provider of high-volume direct mail services, to offer Merkle clients a wide range of mail production services including direct mail printing, personalization and assembly.

Petsky Prunier, a New York-based investment bank providing merger and acquisition and private placement advisory services, facilitated the deal. Terms were not disclosed.

Direct Group has 700,000 square feet of premium production space for direct mail and fulfillment production. At its main production facilities in New Jersey, Direct Group prints, personalizes, assembles, affixes cards, inserts, commingles and mails 5 million pieces of mail daily on average. It also provides full pick 'n' pack, kit assembly and fulfillment services as well as full-color, full-variable print-on-demand capability.

Merkle, Lanham, MD, said the deal reflects its evolution to a full-service agency model. As part of this evolution, the company said it would rely more on external partnerships to fulfill the direct mail production and processing needs of clients' marketing campaigns.
