Meredith names new associate publisher

Meredith Corp. has named Vanessa Reed group associate publisher in charge of marketing at Fitness and More magazines, effective immediately.

Reed has held the same position at Meredith before, but was most recently at Readers Digest, where she served as associate publisher for marketing.

Readers Digest has undergone multiple reshufflings of its executive team in the past few months. In the latest changes, Reed left for Meredith, and Jeff Wellington was named publisher of Readers Digest.

In her twenty-five years of experience in the industry, Reed has worked for Advance Magazine Publishers as associate publisher of Glamour. She has also had roles at The Atlantic Monthly, TV Guide, People and Seventeen.

“While I enjoyed my time at Readers Digest, I feel passionate about the Meredith brands,” Reed said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be back on board working on the Fitness and More team.”

Meredith, New York, publishes 25 subscription magazines, including Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, American Baby, More and Fitness. The company also publishes special interest titles and books and owns fourteen television stations.

Fitness magazine has a rate base circulation of 1.5 million. Ad pages for the monthly health title were up 20.9 percent to 453.59 for the first half of 2007. More, a lifestyle magazine for women over 40, has a rate base of 1.1 million. Its ad pages were up 13.2 percent to 590.49.

Readers Digest, which Reed is leaving, saw an 11.7 percent gain in ad pages through June of this year.
