Telemarketer MemberWorks Inc., Stamford, CT, entered into an agreement last week with the Nebraska attorney general's office to clarify disclosures made to consumers in its telemarketing scripts. The company will include in its scripts specific language that makes clear to consumers when they will be charged for product orders and will notify consumers by mail before charging them for club membership renewals. MemberWorks also agreed to reimburse the state attorney general's office $25,000 for its help in creating the new standards, which the company will use nationwide.
