MediaWhiz taps new SVP of strategy and operations

Jeremy Leonard has been named SVP of strategy and operations at the MediaWhiz division of The SolutionSet MediaWhiz Partnership, said Ed Kats, president of MediaWhiz. Leonard will be based in New York. He will report directly to Kats.

Leonard will oversee client strategy, operations and business development for the MediaWhiz division. He will also manage the performance and development of digital and direct marketing initiatives.

“We needed someone to come in and drive client strategy and operations,” said Kats. “He’s got a great background and a wealth of industry knowledge. We’re completely focused on [return on investment] marketing and he’s got a nuanced focus on the marketplace.”

Leonard most recently served as SVP of digital agency InterMundo Media where he started in 2009. Prior to InterMundo he served as EVP of Intela, an online lead generation and email marketing company.

“This is a great fit for me,” said Leonard. “MediaWhiz gives me the chance to bring my knowledge of branding and performance marketing to a great roster of clients.”

Integrated agency SolutionSet and online performance marketing firm MediaWhiz combined to form the SolutionSet MediaWhiz Partnership in August. The agency named Michael Miller CMO in Sept.

“My short-term goal is looking at clients that MediaWhiz has today and bringing a more holistic view to them and providing better results,” said Leonard.

Kats said Leonard was recommended to the SolutionSet MediaWhiz Partnership and that the company did not look internally to fill the position because, “We have great channel experts and really amazing executives. We wanted someone who’d done brand strategy work and performance-based marketing to fill the gap.”

Leonard’s start-date was Oct. 17 but he transitioned to the New York office the week of Nov. 14.

The agency’s clients include Adidas, AT&T and American Express Co.
