MediaRiver releases ClickSurge to help publishers

Intellext, creators of the Watson contextual search software, has changed its name to MediaRiver and released ClickSurge, which enables Web publishers to guide Internet users to the publishers’ online content in a discovery-based contextual mode.

The ClickSurge platform selects the content from a publisher’s library to display on any Web site, allowing the publisher’s content to be shown to users automatically when it is most likely to be consumed.

“ClickSurge helps Web publishers guide more Internet users to their online content more often,” said Jay Budzik, co-founder and CTO of MediaRiver.

ClickSurge is being used by MediaRiver customers to show users more content when they are already on their Web site, driving more page views per visit and to form audience development partnerships.

ClickSurge works with video, pictures, user-generated content and editorial.

ClickSurge-powered widgets also can be placed on blogs and social networking sites.

“ClickSurge and search engine marketing are similar because both expose content to users when they are not in a publisher’s Web site,” Budzik said. “Once a user finds what they are looking for, whether it’s by using a search engine or other means, ClickSurge powers the next click by showing the user related links.”
