MediaOne to Expand Marketing Efforts for AT&T Long Distance

MediaOne, the Englewood, CO, broadband services provider, yesterday said it would add inbound sales channels to its outbound telemarketing efforts to promote AT&T long distance telephone service. The company, which last year agreed to merge with AT&T, markets the carrier’s 7-cents-a-minute long distance plan in several markets where it offers MediaOne Digital Telephone Service, including Boston; Atlanta; Detroit; Richmond, VA; Jacksonville, FL; Minneapolis-St. Paul; portions of South Florida and portions of Northern California.

The company said it would begin marketing AT&T long distance in Los Angeles within six weeks. A spokeswoman declined to elaborate on the company’s statement that it would launch inbound sales channels and also would not provide details on the company’s marketing plans for the Los Angeles market, citing competitive reasons.
