MediaCom names U.S. CEO

WPP-owned media agency MediaCom hired Sasha Savic as its U.S. CEO, a newly created position, the company confirmed on Jan. 19. Savic will officially join the agency and begin work in early spring, said MediaCom North America CEO Harvey Goldhersz, in a statement.

As head of MediaCom USA, Savic will be based in the multinational company’s New York office and report directly to Goldhersz. Savic will be tasked with the oversight of the overall product, management and operation of all MediaCom activities at four of the company’s U.S.-based offices.

Savic will oversee the agency’s roughly 700 employees and $6.4 billion in billings, according to numbers sourced by media research company RECMA (Research Company Evaluating the Media Agency industry) and quoted in the MediaCom statement.

“Sasha is a strategic thinker and innovator with exactly the kind of extensive media agency credentials that MediaCom needs to lead our U.S. operation as we plan for 2012 and beyond,” said Goldhersz in a statement. Goldhersz became CEO of MediaCom North America one year ago.

Savic comes to MediaCom from Havas Media Group North America, where he is currently COO in charge of business performance in the U.S. and Canada. He also served as an EVP, global managing director, for SMG/Publicis Groupe and as EVP, director of global accounts.

Goldhersz wasn’t available for comment beyond the official statement.
