MediaBay, Digital Goods to Co-Market Their Products

MediaBay, a seller of spoken audio and nostalgia products, and Digital Goods, a marketer of electronic books for a network of book publishers, yesterday formed a co-marketing agreement that will feature their products on each other's online branded stores.

The deal calls for MediaBay to feature a store for eBooks on its Web site that will be hosted by Digital Goods, Maynard, MA. Also, MediaBay will make Digital Goods' content available through its network of Web sites, which include mediabay.com and audiobookclub.com.

“It's a logical product line extension for us to offer that will be well received by our customer base and we can make additional revenue and profits by selling the content,” said Stephen McLaughlin, executive vice president and chief product officer at Cedar Knolls, NJ-based MediaBay.

“Also, we expect that through Digital Goods and their network of retailers we'll be able to drive traffic to MediaBay for purchases of downloadable content as well as CD, cassette, audio and old-time radio content.”

MediaBay, which has a customer base of about 2 million people, plans to introduce the partnership via direct mailings and targeted e-mail, McLaughlin said. He expects the branded store to be operational in 30 to 45 days.

Digital Goods, which has a network of nearly 2,000 online retail affiliates, will feature a store for audio books, magazines and classic radio shows on its Web site. MediaBay will host the store.
