Maxxcom Inc., the marketing and communications unit of MDC Corp., Toronto, bought a 50.1 percent stake in Accent Marketing Services for $10 million in cash. Accent, Louisville, KY, is a direct marketing firm that sells database management, graphic design, fulfillment and inbound call center services. With a client roster including Sprint, Sears, Humana and Zenith, Accent projects 1999 revenue to reach $24 million. As part of the acquisition arrangement, MDC said it also owes “additional consideration” on the condition that Accent reaches pre-set earnings goals.
