Match.com integrates with Facebook

Online dating site Match.com has introduced a new dating application for Facebook called the Little Black Book in a move to expand its offering on the social networking site.

The Little Black Book brings Match.com’s matching functionality to the social networking site, letting Facebook users find potential matches based on compatibility and shared interests. It also lets friends recommend potential mates to one another.

“Social Networking is a great opportunity to reconnect with people that you used to know and old family members, and it presents a great opportunity for singles to meet people through friends,” said Robbie Waeschenfelder, manager of marketing at Match.com. “We saw the opportunity for people to help introduce their friends to other friends via Facebook.”

Little Black Book users can pull basic information such as age and location from their existing Facebook profiles to create their Little Black Book profile.

Little Black Book then offers up potential matches using Match.com’s proprietary compatibility and matching algorithms. Potential matches are displayed in a gallery within the application and a user can then highlight the individuals in which he or she is interested.

These preferences are updated to each new match with similar characteristics and the profile is compiled based on these choices.

To communicate with potential matches, users can purchase a key to unlock preferred matches. Once unlocked, the matched couple can speak back and forth within the Little Black Book application.

In addition Little Black Book also includes a social functionality in which Facebook friends can play matchmaker. Friends can share potential matches with any of their other friends on Facebook and can also buy keys to unlock a potential match for a friend.

Little Black Book is free to download and keys can be purchased for 99 cents each or $7.49 for 10 keys.
