Martha Stewart to Test Recipes Magazine

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia begins a four-issue test in January of a new publication titled Everyday Food, the company said yesterday.

After the test run, the publisher will decide whether to roll out the magazine to 10 issues a year starting in September.

The magazine will feature fast, simple and healthy recipes aimed at the everyday cook, the company said.

The digest-sized magazine will have an initial distribution of 750,000 including newsstand and controlled circulation and a cover price of $2.95. Everyday Food will be incorporated into the “Martha Stewart Living” television program and the company Web site at www.marthastewart.com.

Magazine staff includes Judith Hill, editor; Scot Schy, designer; and Helen Seligman, publisher.

Separately, the company posted third quarter sales of $70.9 million, up 4 percent from the same quarter last year, but Internet and catalog revenues slipped to $8 million from $9.1 million in the same quarter last year. This was the result of planned lower catalog circulation, as well as sluggish ad revenue.
