Mallin Named to Succeed Butkus at infoUSA’s Donnelley

In his second promotion in little more than a year, Ed Mallin confirmed yesterday that he will assume the role of president of infoUSA’s Donnelley Marketing group upon the Sept. 1 departure of current president Ray Butkus.

Mallin has spent 25 years in the industry and has been with Walter Karl since before its acquisition by infoUSA, then known as American Business Information, in 1998.

In June 2004, Mallin was promoted from president of Walter Karl to group president for infoUSA’s list brokerage and management arms including Walter Karl, Walter Karl Interactive, Edith Roman and Yesmail. At that time, Joann Kropp became president of Walter Karl.

In his new position, Mallin will continue his previous duties as well as take the helm of Donnelley Marketing, Catalog Vision and Triplex. Mallin will split time between Walter Karl’s Pearl River, NY, office and Donnelley’s corporate headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

Another recent change at Donnelley was the departure of senior vice president of sales Dave Hendricks, who was replaced by 15-year Donnelley veteran Pete Giraldi.

“There may be some other changes but nothing really substantive at this point,” Mallin said. “It’s a challenging time and a challenging industry but I think we have a very unique offering. I’ve been in all aspects of the business over the last 25 years, and I think I have an interesting perspective.”

InfoUSA, Omaha, NE, announced Butkus’ resignation Aug. 8. The company described his reasons for leaving as personal and said that Butkus will serve as a consultant to infoUSA for one year.
