Mail-Well Trims Q4 Losses

Mail-Well Inc. reported a fourth-quarter loss of $2.6 million yesterday, much better than its reported loss of $45.8 million a year earlier. Sales for the quarter fell to $435.5 million from $443.1 million in 2001.

For the year, the Englewood, CO, printing company reported a loss of $202.1 million compared with a loss of $136.2 million in 2001. Sales for 2002 were $1.7 billion, compared with $1.9 billion in 2001.

“While it remains difficult to forecast because of the continued uncertainty in the economy, we expect Q1 2003 to also show improvement over the same period in 2002,” said Paul Reilly, chairman, president and CEO.
