MailCreations Teams With Tutopia To Increase Latin American Presence

MailCreations.com yesterday partnered with direct marketing and communications company Tutopia.com in the hopes of increasing its distribution channels and provide its clients with greater international reach.

Tutopia.com provides free Internet access in Latin America.

Based in Miami, the companies formed an open-ended deal that would allow MailCreations, a provider of opt-in e-mail advertising in Latin America, to resell Tutopia's Precisiontek e-mail technology. The technology lets MailCreations' clients target the Spanish-speaking sector by demographics, interests and geography, the companies said.

The e-mails mostly will be in Spanish, with only a few clients expected to send bilingual messages, said Jose Vargas, director at MailCreations.

“It benefits our company because it increases our inventory and our value proposition to our clients to reach the Latin American continent,” Vargas said. “[The deal] increases our reseller network by 2 million users.”

MailCreations, which has 23 clients, plans to use a cost-per-thousand-impressions pricing model, Vargas said. The contract then calls for MailCreations to split revenue with Tutopia, he said.

Vargas would not reveal how the revenue would be shared.

The agreement allows MailCreations' clients to reach approximately 10 Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, encompassing some 50 cities, Vargas said. However, the agreement does not include Brazil, Latin America's largest country, whose inhabitants mostly speak Portuguese.
