Macy’s promotes shopping clubs, targets tourists with website launch

To attract tourists to its stores, Macy’s unveiled VisitMacysUSA.com, a website targeting US and international travelers, on May 10. The site, which is available in eight languages, promotes the retailer’s shopping clubs.

Developed in-house, the site gives domestic consumers a “Welcome Savings Pass,” which offers 10% savings at all Macy’s stores for three days after validation. International consumers can download the “International Savings Card Voucher,” which gives consumers 10% off for 30 days after validation.

The site encourages consumers to join the store’s “VIP Shopper,” “Shop & Dine” and “Star Shipper” programs, all of which include gift cards. The portal showcases the brand’s New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Chicago stores as popular tourist destinations.

Macy’s expanded an existing site promoting its Chicago store to create VisitMacysUSA.com.

“We took this further by layering it with our tourist programs,” said Orlando Veras, Macy’s spokesman.
