Lyris Powering E-Mail Lists of Risk Management Organization

Lyris Technologies, Berkeley, CA, a developer of list management software and provider of opt-in e-mail marketing services, said that Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. is using its Lyris ListManager software to run its online forums.

RIMS, New York, is a trade association made up of 8,000 risk management professionals. The group has 4,000 member organizations. It did not reveal the size of its e-mail database.

The risk organization implemented Lyris ListManager to facilitate new member sign-ups. When new members register at the RIMS Web site, they are given the opportunity to sign up for more than a dozen e-mail discussion groups. Members' opt-in selections are recorded to a database and updated if they change their e-mail address, unsubscribe or sign up for new lists.

“Our ideal solution was to run e-mail lists directly from the RIMS database,” said Andrew Steggles, director of information systems at RIMS. “We plan to grow RIMS's membership significantly during the coming year and expect that our discussion lists will help us reach that goal.”

The organization said that since it implemented ListManager, it has significantly decreased its list administration time and improved customer service.

RIMS publishes two main online newsletters: RIMSCOPE, published six times a year, which updates members on happenings with the organization and its chapters; and RIMSCAN, a quarterly publication that focuses on the organization's Canadian operations.
