Localized search site Local.com has relaunched its flagship portal in an effort to reposition its brand and enhance its search capabilities for coupons, businesses and events.
In the coupon category, Local.com will promote special offers for local merchants as well as printable coupons and online codes. The site also includes an interactive “coupons near you” map of the consumer’s local area, which indicates where deals are available. Consumers can also search grocery ads and national coupons.
“It’s provided to them in a way that’s really easy to consume because this audience is incredibly pressed for time,” said Rajan Mohan, SVP and general manager of Local.com. The site’s target demographic is women between the ages of 25 and 45, which it calls “household managers and soccer moms.”
“For local, that’s exactly the demographic that we want to promote to our advertisers,” he added.
The revamped site also has new social media features and allows visitors to create profiles and become fans of local businesses. It also enables consumers to share listings, post reviews and subscribe to other members’ reviews.
Mohan emphasized that the revamp included both the consumer-facing design of the site and its offerings, as well as back-end changes that sped up the process and connected the dots for consumers more quickly. “We want to give people answers with one or two clicks,” he said.
