List Veteran Pam Lukens Dies

Longtime list professional Pam Lukens died Dec. 26 from complications brought on by severe asthma. She was 59.

“She was a very genuine, down-to-earth person who also had a tremendous business sense,” said Jack Sullivan, salesman at data processing firm Data for Development, Des Plaines, IL. “She may not have had the recognition that some in the industry have but she will be sorely missed by many.”

Sullivan worked with Lukens at her first industry job at National Business Lists from 1981 to 1985. She then worked for Rubin Response Services Inc. until 1989 as a list broker.

In 1989 she went on to serve as list sales director for Cahners Business Lists, now known as DecisionMaker Media Management. She went to Uni-Mail's Chicago office as list manager from 1996 until the company, which was based in lower Manhattan, closed as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

She then went to Applied Technology Publications, where she served as internal list manager until her death.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 13 at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
