After years of working for traditional list firms, list veteran Terry Hudock has opened a direct marketing firm of her own — Sound Beach Marketing Partners LLC in Old Greenwich, CT.
With more than 21 years experience Hudock was most recently at ALC of New York LLC through September 2001. She previously worked at several other list firms including Edith Roman Associates, Mokrynski & Associates Inc., Donnelley Marketing, AZ Marketing and the Kaplan Agency.
However, Hudock claimed that her goal is not to vie with traditional list firms.
“My goal is not to compete with list managers and brokers out there necessarily but more or less to serve as a sales arm or marketing arm to them,” said Hudock. “My goal is to set up a small agency that can work within the list industry and sell mailing lists and not get caught up in the other kinds of things that go into managing and brokering. I'm trying to focus more on supporting list management and list brokerage.”
She is negotiating with a major list firm to represent its managed files.
Hudock is already representing an 11-million-household, 33-million-name U.S. Hispanic database for Tamayo, Miyares & Sherman, a multicultural marketing agency. The firm hired Hudock to introduce the file to mainstream direct marketers, she said.
On the brokerage side, Hudock offers services such as putting together list recommendations or working on other projects that a brokerage firm may need assistance with.
