List Professional Chris Page Dies at 63

List industry veteran Chris Page died Tuesday, more than a week after undergoing heart surgery for an aortic aneurysm. He was 63.

Page seemed to be recovering from the surgery, but took a turn for the worse last weekend, said colleague Pat Sabatino, senior account executive in international list management at Direct Media Inc., Greenwich, CT.

Page began his list management career in 1985 at Direct Media and spent much of his career in international list management.

He left Direct Media in 1998 to join List Services Corp., where he headed the firm's international list management division.

“He was somewhat instrumental in getting us more involved with international work,” said Mal McCluskey, CEO of List Services Corp., Bethel, CT. “We broke international out as a separate division when he started.”

He left List Services during the fourth quarter of 2001 and returned to Direct Media in March.

Sabatino, who worked with Page for almost 14 years, said he is being mourned widely in the international list community.

“Though he may have been tough in his business dealings, he was well-liked as a person,” he said. “He was hard-nosed but at the end of the day you left the room loving the guy.”

A memorial service for Page will be held April 28 at Harborview Club House in South Norwalk, CT, where he lived. He is survived by his wife, Jean, and sons Rupert and Julian.
