List Council Talks Goals at Open Meeting

NEW YORK — With membership up about 10 percent for the year, the Direct Marketing Association's List and Database Council Operating Committee hopes to broaden its scope and continue its initiatives.

These goals were discussed yesterday at the second annual open meeting of the committee here at List Vision 2003 at the Marriott Marquis.

“We hope to incorporate more of the database segment into the organization,” said Linda Huntoon, vice chair of the committee and executive vice president of Direct Media Inc. “We'd like to make a broader connection with the industry at large.”

Committee chair Stefanie Pont, vice president at Brann Worldwide, stressed the value of the council's educational activities.

“We can help everyone get to the next level,” she said. Whether it's the young professionals series or the continuing-education programming, all list and database professionals can benefit, she said.

Pont also noted that committee members are always accessible to answer questions and help the list community.

Though membership co-chair Cindy Karamitis, director of list marketing at Bookspan, said the 10 percent boost in membership was encouraging, she urged more people to join the council.

“The more involved people get, the more we can offer,” she said.
