List Briefs: Information Refinery Issues Builder Files

The Information Refinery Inc., Mahwah, NJ, has made available two master files, one of builders and one of general contractors. The builders master file contains more than 134,000 construction professionals involved in residential, light and heavy commercial building. The general contractors master file contains more than 205,000 decision makers – 83,069 men and 8,233 women – in general contracting. The builders file contains 90,892 men and 7,953 women. Individuals on both lists have responded to direct mail offers, subscribed to construction-related publications or attended building industry trade shows. They’re likely to respond to offers for construction-related products and services, financial services, and book or catalog promotions.

The Lake Group, Rye, NY, this month was named list manager of the New Economy Watch newsletter, published by Forbes magazine and the Gilder Group. New Economy Watch is a monthly advisory letter covering investment strategies. This is the first time the list of 7,273 subscribers is being made available. The list is 80 percent male and 13 percent female.

The Lake Group this month was also named list manager of the Thomas Register/Autodesk CAD CD-ROM Subscriber master file, a list of 111,259 engineering professionals who subscribe to CadBlocks, PartSpec and PlantSpec. This is also the first time this mostly male list has been made available for rental.

Dunhill International List Co. Inc., Boca Raton, FL, earlier this month made available a list of 25 million contact lens and corrective lens wearers. Individuals on this list, which is updated on a monthly basis, are likely prospects for branded merchandise, grooming aids, health and wellness products, laser surgery and books.

Dunhill this month also started managing a list of 281,144 time-share owners who are upscale vacationers. They spend between $4,000 and $18,000 for one or two weeks of time sharing. Most are individuals with an average age of 48 and incomes ranging from $40,000 to $100,000.

Other lists include one of 13,550 magazine industry executives, including publishers, advertising and promotion managers, editors, art directors and circulation managers who are likely prospects for offers of computer systems, desk-top publishing equipment and laser printers, art supplies and equipment, and industry seminars; and one list of 26,781 travel agency managers and owners who are likely prospects for announcements from airlines, resorts, tours, hotels and car rental companies.

Edith Roman Associates Inc., Pearl River, NY, this month was named manager of San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyle magazine’s list of 23,778 subscribers. Sixty-three percent of the individuals on the list are female; 77 percent are married; 81 percent have a college education or more; and 93 percent own their own home. Subscribers’ average age is 54 with a median household income of $122,814. They are likely prospects for upscale gifts, book and music clubs, crafts and collectibles.
