Increases in comparable-store and net sales for its fiscal first quarter were reported yesterday by Limited Brands, Columbus, OH.
Comparable-store sales for the quarter ended May 1 rose 8 percent while net sales of $1.98 billion were up 7 percent compared with $1.84 billion last year.
On an adjusted basis, operating income reached $119.4 million compared with $109.1 million last year. Net income totaled $67.8 million versus $49.8 million a year ago.

* PetMed Express Inc., Pompano Beach, FL, said that for its fiscal year ended March 31, net income reached $5.8 million compared with $3.3 million for fiscal 2003, a 79 percent increase. Also, net sales for the fiscal year totaled $94 million, up from $55 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2003, an increase of 71 percent.
* The Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Shelburne, VT, reported net revenue for the three months ended March 31 of $20.1 million, an increase of about 38 percent compared with $14.5 million in the three months ended March 31, 2003. The revenue increase in the quarter was attributable mainly to the $3.6 million contributed by the addition of the Calyx & Corolla floral delivery segment acquired Aug. 29, 2003.
