GHI Marketing, the promotion, incentive and recognition services division of the Amplaco Group Inc., Katonah, NY, signed an agreement this week with Countdown Entertainment, which will officially organize the Times Square celebration on New Year's 2000 in association with the Times Square Business Improvement District.
Bill Swertfager, national sales manager for GHI Marketing, said that the Times Square 2000 Celebration not only marks the end of the millennium but is pegged to be the most watched event of our lifetime. Swertfager said he anticipates extraordinary demand for commemorative merchandise from the celebration ushering in the new millennium.
At Countdown Entertainment, Jeff Straus, president, said the company was planning on the merchandise to extend the Times Square New Year's Eve celebration throughout the country and the world. “These offerings will allow everyone to share in the festivities regardless of where they are on Dec. 31, 1999.”
GHI released a catalog featuring its Times Square 2000 merchandise line at last month's PMA Update Convention. Included among the usual commemorative coins and plates was a liquid pen with a Times Square floating ball inside.
