The Direct Marketing Association’s Circulation Council will induct Liberta Abbondante, vice president of circulation marketing at Dow Jones & Co., into its Circulation Hall of Fame on Feb 7 during its 21st annual Circulation Day at the New York Marriott Marquis.
The award recognizes professionals in the field who have made significant contributions to the circulation industry through professional achievement, breakthrough, creativity and community involvement.
Ms. Abbondante handles circulation for Dow Jones media brands like The Wall Street Journal, the site at WSJ.com, Barron’s and Barron’s Online. She joined Dow Jones in 2004.
As vice president of circulation marketing, Ms. Abbondante is responsible for managing the Journal’s 1.7 million daily circulation, Barron’s weekly circulation of 300,000 and the 900,000 subscribers to WSJ.com and Barron’s Online.
Prior to Dow Jones, Ms. Abbondante was vice president of circulation at Elsevier, where she was responsible for the subscription marketing and sales activities for nearly 300 medical journals.
She began her publishing career at Macfadden Publishing and has also served as vice president of circulation at Forbes Inc.
At Forbes, Ms. Abbondante was in charge of all subscription and retail sales activities for Forbes magazine, Forbes Global, the American Heritage Magazine Group and the Forbes Investment Newsletters.
In addition to the induction of Ms. Abbondante, the DMA has announced its keynote speakers for its Circulation Day conference.
Danyel Smith, editor-in-chief of Vibe Magazine, and Lauren Stanich, president of publishing at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, will each give keynote presentations.
