Letter: Putting My Social Security Number on a Postcard? Unbelievable

Unbelievable. I received a tear-off return postcard from New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies that asks for a name and address (or the peel-off address label from mailing panel) to receive their Spring Bulletin. There was no peel-off label — but that’s not the surprise.

The postcard also asks (optional) for my Social Security number. On a postcard! Please! Couldn’t they have had their Graduate School in Direct Marketing review the mailing before printing?

I wrote, “You’ve got to be kidding” on the postcard and circled the request for the Social Security number when I returned it.
