Letter: DMA Has a Place, Just Not With DMCNY

When I started my first sales job in this business, I worked for a man by the name of Mal Dunn. The first thing he had me do was go to the DMCNY lunch. I attended almost every lunch for the next three years, until I left town.

Now, I admire the DMA and it has a place, but it’s not in the Direct Marketing Club of New York. The people I met there (25 years ago) are still very much my friends and competitors. I feel that that club had a very important part of my staying in this industry. I can’t say that about the DMA!

So I support the past presidents when they say no to the Direct Marketing Association. Also, I’m not familiar with Vito Fortuna, but if I were he, I’d pay attention to what these past presidents have to say.
