*Lands’ End Expands BTB Initiative Online

Online and print cataloger Lands’ End, Dodgeville, WI, announced yesterday that it is expanding its e-commerce initiative into the business-to-business arena.

The specialty apparel merchant already services companies via its print catalog with business casual apparel, custom embroidery of corporate logos and promotional products like attachés and portfolios. The company’s corporate sales division, which oversees its print BTB services, will oversee the e-commerce project.

The company’s strategy is three-pronged based on a client’s size. First, it will offer e-procurement aggregators for large companies. Second, it will offer online custom stores for Fortune 1000 companies, and last, it will offer a BTB site for all companies, including those that are small- to medium-size.

Lands’ End has signed online procurement partnerships with Commerce One and Ariba to supply corporate buyers with customized apparel and accessories. The direct marketer will launch an online custom store for Saturn some time this month. The store will be accessible to Saturn’s employees through its intranet and to Saturn retailers via the Internet. Saturn owners will be able to purchase Lands’ End Saturn signature apparel at Saturn retail stores.
