Business-to-business distributor Grainger said yesterday that its Lab Safety Supply subsidiary has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Rand Materials Handling Equipment Co. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rand is a national catalog distributor of warehouse, storage and packaging supplies. Grainger expects the acquisition to close within the week.
Rand, Pawtucket, RI, which was founded in 1972, had more than $16 million in annual sales last year. It will become part of Lab Safety Supply, whose brands include Ben Meadows, Gempler's and AW Direct, and will operate out of LSS' facility in Janesville, WI.
